Psalm 91: A Reminder of Our Home in the Lord
Today, as I read Psalm 91 for what seemed like the thousandth time, I was struck by its beauty and relevance. This psalm is a reminder that our true home is not in the physical houses we live in, but in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Verse 1 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” This is such a powerful image of our safety and security in the Lord. When we dwell in Him, we are surrounded by His love and protection.
This verse also brings to mind the worship song “Erif Beyesuse” by Lidiya Tefera. The chorus of the song says, “Rest in the Lord, my soul / My hope comes from the Lord / My rest comes from the Lord.” What a beautiful thing to know that our hope and rest comes from the Lord, not from the things we have.
As Josh and I recently moved into our new home, I have been especially grateful for the Lord’s protection and provision. He has truly blessed us in so many ways. I know that even more importantly, He has blessed us with His own presence.
I am so thankful for the eternal home that God has prepared for us in heaven. I am also grateful that we get to live in the shelter of His love and protection even now. Thank you, Jesus, for the price you paid for us to live in the shadow of the Almighty God!
Use our earthly homes for your glory, Lord!
Love your daughter,
Emnet
